This painting is based upon a photograph from an issue of National Geographic magazine from the 1990s, I added the cows in the background for a surreal contrast. I was interested in exploring the intense contrast between the blue and orange tones (complementary colour pairs in colour theory). I also like exploring the idea of creating a beautiful object from what would be seen as an unpleasant subject.
